Guest Blog Series: Nutrition Tip 1

I'm Carla Hernandez, a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner working out of BellaPelle Skin Studio. I am thrilled to be a part of the BellaPelle team! It has been a rewarding experience being able to work with my clients here and see the results from the changes of an internal approach through nutrition.

Good nutrition is key to having beautiful skin. I'm excited to be able to offer you some nutritional tips through this series of guest blogs.

Nutrition Tip 1: Get Adequate Amounts of Vitamins D and C

A sufficient amount of vitamin D is an integral part to staying disease free. It aids in weight control, prevents obesity, counteracts hypertension by keeping the vascular system healthy, ensures optimal absorption of calcium, and is helpful in countless autoimmune diseases, even cancer! Vitamin D also helps keep us safe from colds, the flu and heart disease. In regards to having beautiful skin, vitamin D helps slows down the aging process (wrinkle prevention!), lowers inflammatory markers in the body, and aids in the healing process. One of the best sources of vitamin D is cod liver oil. It occurs naturally in a perfect ratio to vitamin A and doubles as a fatty acid to keep skin healthy.

Vitamin C is an amazing antioxidant that helps repair free radical damage and plays a vital role in the immune system.

For dietary advice on what to eat to get plenty of vitamin D and C in your diet this year, make an appointment with me at BellaPelle Skin Studio.
